Globe will be increasing the number of cell sites that can utilize the 700 MHz frequency this 2017.
In line with their commitment to strengthen the internet capabilities in the Philippines, Globe will be putting up more cellsites that can use the 700 MHz frequency.
How many? Last 2016, Globe was able to deploy about 500 sites.. this year, plans are to deploy 1,800 more 700 MHz capable sites around the country.
“We continue to maximize the use of the previously unutilized 700 MHz because at the end of the day, our basic product is still the network. Globe has consistently delivered superior mobile services and as the country’s network of choice by smartphone users, we want to be able to stay ahead of the demand curve, taking into account our customers’ growing requirement for bandwidth-intensive content,” said Cu.
Besides 700 Mhz capable sites, 1,000 sites will also be made capable to use the 2600 MHz band.
For the fixed line users, dont fret… Globe is not forgetting about you… there are plans to deploy 425,000 high-speed broadband bands within 2017. The target by 2020 is to have 2 million homes with broadband lines with speeds of at least 10 mbps
Now, if only putting up these facilities was as easy as 1,2,3.. can the newly formed DICT help decrease the backlog in getting the permits to set up?
